Job Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Senior Operations Manager, the Operations Specialist will provide technical support to strengthen operations management across Offices in the Region. This role contributes to the implementation of strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening fiduciary risk management, optimizing resource utilization, and promoting efficient business practices in line with regional and organizational priorities. The specialist will provide technical assistance and support to WCA Country Offices on Operations, financial, and administrative management, and support the implementation of regional and/or organizational improvement initiatives related to Operations. Additionally, the role involves contributing to capability development and capacity building activities, acting as a technical focal point for specific offices, and undertaking any specific tasks requested by the Supervisor.
Responsibilities
Provide technical assistance and support to WCA Country Offices on Operations, financial, and administrative management. Support the implementation of regional and/or organizational improvement initiatives related to Operations. Contribute to capability development and capacity development activities. Act as technical focal point for the Senegal Common Services and the Cabo Verde Joint Office. Conduct any specific tasks as requested by the Supervisor. The role requires proven ability to analyze performance indicators and transactional data, strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement across countries and functions, and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Desired experience includes progressive experience at Country Office, Regional, or Headquarters levels in providing oversight and technical support, experience in implementing organizational efficiency and business process improvement initiatives, a proven track record in capacity development, and the ability to demonstrate initiative in identifying areas for improvement and proposing practical solutions.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience at the international level is required, specifically in implementing organizational initiatives in one or more operations management areas including budget, financial management, administrative management, risk, and compliance with UNICEF, with a solid understanding of corporate policies, procedures, and internal control framework.
