Job Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to provide technical support to UNICEF Zimbabwe Country Office (ZCO) in contextualizing and supporting the roll-out of the UPSHIFT methodology to strengthen entrepreneurship and livelihoods among Youth Community Health Workers (YCHWs). The assignment aims to contribute to the creation of an enterprising cadre of YCHWs who are capable of innovating and developing sustainable income-generating ventures, including health-related solutions where applicable. This initiative seeks to enhance motivation, retention, and performance in community health work, particularly in contexts with limited or no government support. The consultant will play a key role in adapting global tools to local needs and ensuring effective implementation.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support to UNICEF Zimbabwe in contextualizing and rolling out the UPSHIFT methodology for Youth Community Health Workers (YCHWs). Develop and implement strategies to strengthen entrepreneurship and livelihoods among YCHWs. Facilitate the creation of an enterprising cadre of YCHWs capable of developing sustainable income-generating ventures. Adapt global learning tools and curricula to local contexts, developing high-quality facilitator and participant training materials. Design and deliver Training of Trainers (ToT) programmes. Build the capacity of government, civil society, and youth-led organizations in entrepreneurship and social innovation. Support the development of entrepreneurship, employability, and income-generation initiatives for adolescents and young people, especially in low-resource settings. Coach and mentor YCHWs and relevant stakeholders. Engage effectively with government, development partners, civil society, and young people. Write analytical reports and provide communication support. Manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality outputs with minimal supervision.
Work Experience
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in youth empowerment, social innovation, entrepreneurship development, skills development, or livelihoods programming. Demonstrated experience in adapting and implementing the UPSHIFT methodology or comparable youth social innovation/human-centred design approaches. Proven track record in designing and delivering ToT programmes and capacity building.
