Job Purpose
The People and Culture Specialist (Workforce Planning) position contributes to UNICEF's talent management and workforce planning priorities within the Division of People and Culture. The role supports the development and implementation of a strategic workforce planning approach, utilizing data-driven methods across the talent management lifecycle, including skills mapping. This involves collaborating with various stakeholders to identify future talent needs, assess existing capabilities, determine talent gaps, and devise strategies to meet organizational requirements. The specialist will work closely with People and Culture colleagues to integrate talent acquisition and development into a holistic talent management strategy, ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic goals and fostering an adaptive, capable, and people-centered workforce.
Responsibilities
The People and Culture Specialist (Workforce Planning) is responsible for contributing to the organization’s talent management and workforce planning priorities. Key duties include supporting the development of a compelling strategic case for workforce planning to gain senior leadership buy-in. The role involves preparing and supporting the implementation of a strategic workforce planning approach, applying a data-driven methodology to all aspects of strategic talent management. This includes leading on skills mapping initiatives and collaborating with People and Culture colleagues across the organization and representatives from technical divisions. The specialist will identify future talent needs, review existing talent through skills/capability mapping, determine talent gaps, and propose methods to address organizational capability needs. Furthermore, the position involves collaboration with Division of People and Culture colleagues on talent acquisition and talent development aspects of a holistic talent management strategy, contributing to strategic People and Culture initiatives, organizational culture, DEI, learning and capacity-building, and data analytics, innovation, and knowledge management.
Work Experience
Five years of increasingly responsible professional experience in Human Resources/People and Culture management or Organizational development in an international organization and/or large corporation is required.
Skills
Experience implementing targeted and innovative People and Culture strategies, Ability to implement innovative People and Culture programs in a dynamic setting, Strong understanding of talent management and workforce planning, In-depth technical knowledge of People and Culture management principles, Ability to identify and analyze systemic issues and provide recommendations, Excellent knowledge of organizational and People and Culture IT systems, Ability to analyze and interpret data for strategy development, Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills, Skills mapping, Data-driven approach to talent management
