Job Purpose
As the Health Officer, you will report to the Health/CSD/Nutrition Specialist/Manager or Chief for supervision. You will provide professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for the Health Programme within the Country Programme, from development planning to delivery of results. This involves preparing, executing, managing, and implementing a variety of technical and administrative programme tasks to facilitate programme development, implementation, progress monitoring, and evaluating and reporting of results. The role is crucial in supporting the country programme's health objectives and ensuring effective delivery of services for children.
Responsibilities
1. Support to programme development and planning: Contribute to the development and planning of the Health Programme, aligning with country-specific needs and UNICEF's global strategies.
2. Programme management, monitoring and delivery of results: Oversee the implementation of health-related projects, monitor progress against set objectives, and ensure timely delivery of results. Manage programme resources effectively and report on performance.
3. Technical and operational support to programme implementation: Provide technical expertise and operational support to field teams and partners involved in health programme activities. Ensure adherence to UNICEF standards and guidelines.
4. Networking and partnership building: Establish and maintain strong relationships with government counterparts, NGOs, UN agencies, and other stakeholders to foster collaboration and leverage resources for the health programme.
5. Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building: Identify and promote innovative approaches in health programming. Document lessons learned, share best practices, and contribute to building the capacity of partners and staff.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of professional experience in public health/nutrition planning and management, maternal and neonatal health care, or health emergency/humanitarian preparedness is required.
