The Senior Planning Specialist (Strategic Coordinator) is central to UNICEF’s ambitious transformation of its Global Programme Division, shifting towards a globally connected, demand-driven technical assistance model. This role shapes how UNICEF delivers technical assistance across regions and country contexts, connecting strategy with execution. It translates UNICEF’s Strategic Plan into clear processes, aligned incentives, and operational excellence. The specialist will drive coherence across business processes, governance, and performance systems, enabling seamless collaboration and ensuring technical assistance delivery is prioritized, scalable, and results-driven. By turning data and insights into strategic decisions, the role strengthens programme impact and contributes to a future-ready, globally integrated model of technical assistance.
Responsibilities
The Senior Planning Specialist (Strategic Coordinator) leads the institutional coordination and embedding of UNICEF’s Technical Assistance (TA) Hub within its programme architecture, ensuring technical assistance is delivered in a focused, scalable, and impact-driven manner, aligned with the Strategic Plan 2026–2029. Key responsibilities include driving end-to-end alignment of TA Hub processes with planning, results, and accountability systems; strengthening governance, service standards, and operational workflows across HQ, regional, and country levels; facilitating structured coordination with Regional and Country Offices to ensure effective demand articulation and delivery; monitoring performance, generating insights, and supporting senior leadership decision-making; and leading institutionalisation through guidance, tools, and capacity development. By connecting strategy, systems, and operations, the role ensures UNICEF’s technical assistance functions as a coherent, high-performing global service that delivers measurable results for children.
Work Experience
At least 10 years of relevant work experience in International Development, Strategic Planning, Social Innovation, Entrepreneurship, or any other related fields.
