Job Purpose
The purpose of this internship is to support the implementation of media-focused communication activities within the Advocacy and Communication section. The intern will gain practical experience in media engagement, content creation, and advocacy communications. This role is crucial for enhancing the organization’s public visibility and shaping public narratives to advance UNICEF's mandate. By assisting with media relations and communication efforts, the intern will contribute to ensuring that key messages reach target audiences effectively, thereby supporting UNICEF's advocacy goals and overall mission to protect children's rights and well-being.
Responsibilities
The intern will provide support to the Media Relations function within the Advocacy and Communication section. Key tasks include assisting in maintaining and updating media contact lists and databases to ensure accurate and up-to-date information for outreach. The intern will also support outreach efforts to journalists and bloggers, facilitating communication and engagement with media stakeholders. This involves drafting and distributing press releases, media advisories, and other communication materials. Additionally, the intern will assist in monitoring media coverage, tracking mentions of UNICEF and its activities, and compiling reports on media impact. Support may also extend to organizing press conferences, media briefings, and other events. The role requires contributing to content creation for media platforms, such as social media posts and website updates, ensuring consistent messaging and brand representation. The intern will also assist in research related to media trends and opportunities for UNICEF's advocacy and communication strategies.
Work Experience
Previous experience in communications, media relations, or public relations is an asset. Experience with social media platforms and content creation is also beneficial.
