Job Purpose
The purpose of this internship is to support UNICEF Ghana's advocacy efforts by conducting in-depth research, generating evidence, and analyzing policy and development trends. This will inform the development of effective advocacy strategies and support decision-making processes. The intern will contribute to research on critical areas such as child rights, education, health, climate change, plastic pollution, and water systems. Additionally, the role involves supporting stakeholder mapping, policy analysis, knowledge management, and the creation of evidence-based advocacy materials like briefs, presentations, and reports, ultimately contributing to UNICEF's mandate of advancing children's rights and well-being.
Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive desk and literature reviews on priority advocacy issues, gathering and analyzing data from various national, regional, and global sources. Monitor emerging trends, policy developments, and legislative processes relevant to advocacy priorities. Support the development of evidence summaries, fact sheets, and briefing notes. Assist in mapping key stakeholders, influencers, and decision-makers, and support the analysis of policies, laws, budgets, and government commitments. Track progress on national and international development commitments. Maintain advocacy research databases and repositories, organizing research findings and supporting documentation. Prepare presentations, reports, and knowledge products. Assist in monitoring advocacy activities and documenting outcomes, and support the collection of data for advocacy indicators and reporting. Contribute to the preparation of advocacy progress reports and updates. Translate research findings into accessible advocacy messages and support the development of presentations, talking points, and policy briefs. Assist in preparing content for advocacy campaigns and stakeholder engagement activities, including research on birth registration, foundational learning, health and nutrition, child rights, social protection, youth engagement, climate change, plastic pollution, environmental health, water systems, WASH, and water security.
Work Experience
Previous internship or volunteer experience in research, advocacy, or communications is an asset. Familiarity with data analysis and report writing is beneficial. Experience working with UN agencies or international organizations is a plus.
