Job Purpose
The Child Protection/MHPSS Manager will provide strategic, technical, and operational leadership for child protection and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) initiatives within the context of the Ebola emergency response in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This role involves strengthening and integrating child protection measures into existing emergency response mechanisms and intersectoral coordination structures. The incumbent will be responsible for the technical supervision of partners and teams actively engaged in the response, ensuring effective and coordinated interventions. The position requires adaptability, cultural sensitivity, and a strong focus on supporting vulnerable children and communities amidst complex health system limitations, logistical challenges, insecurity, and displacement.
Responsibilities
The Child Protection/MHPSS Manager will be responsible for the strategic and operational coordination of child protection and MHPSS interventions within the Ebola emergency response framework. This includes ensuring the integration of child protection activities into broader emergency response mechanisms and intersectoral coordination structures. The role entails providing technical and programmatic supervision to partners and teams involved in the response, ensuring adherence to best practices and UNICEF standards. A key focus will be on the psychosocial response (MHPSS), developing and implementing strategies to address the mental health and psychosocial needs of affected populations, particularly children. The manager will also lead capacity-building efforts for staff and partners on child protection and MHPSS in emergency settings. Furthermore, the position requires robust monitoring, analysis, and reporting on the progress and impact of interventions, identifying challenges and recommending adjustments to ensure effective and equitable support for vulnerable children and communities in a complex and evolving humanitarian environment.
Work Experience
A minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience in child protection in emergency settings, MHPSS, and humanitarian coordination.
