Job Purpose
UNICEF Jordan supports the delivery of integrated child development and protection services through Makani centers placed in Azraq and Zaatari refugee camps. These centers provide children and adolescents with access to learning support services, skills building, life skills, psychosocial support, child protection, early childhood development, and parenting programs. The programme is implemented through Syrian Incentive-Based Volunteers (IBVs), covering various roles. This consultancy aims to provide monitoring and implementation support to these vital programs within the refugee camps, ensuring effective service delivery and adherence to program objectives. The consultant will play a crucial role in assessing program effectiveness, identifying areas for improvement, and supporting the overall management and coordination of the Makani program activities.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for monitoring the implementation of the Makani program activities within the refugee camps, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic objectives and child protection principles. This includes conducting regular field visits to assess program progress, identify challenges, and gather data on service delivery. The consultant will also be tasked with evaluating the effectiveness of various program components, such as learning support, skills building, psychosocial support, and early childhood development. They will be expected to prepare detailed reports on findings, including recommendations for program enhancement and operational improvements. Furthermore, the consultant will support the coordination of activities involving Syrian Incentive-Based Volunteers (IBVs), ensuring they have the necessary guidance and resources to perform their roles effectively. This may involve facilitating training sessions, providing feedback, and assisting in the resolution of any implementation issues. The consultant will also contribute to data collection and analysis to inform program adjustments and reporting to stakeholders.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in program monitoring, community-based programming, social protection, and/or child protection within a humanitarian or development context. Prior experience working in refugee camp settings in Jordan is required.
Skills
Demonstrated knowledge in Makani sub-programs and components (SB, CPC, LSS, ECD), Demonstrated knowledge of child protection principles and referral mechanisms, Experience in program monitoring, field data collection, and structured reporting, Familiarity with community-based service delivery and volunteer-based program models, Ability to identify quality gaps and communicate findings, Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, Ability to work independently and as part of a team, Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools, Experience in project management and coordination
