Job Purpose
The Supply and Logistics Officer will report to the Head of Operations or Supply and Logistics Manager/Specialist, providing technical and operational support within the Country Office. This role is responsible for managing the supply chains of a small country office or specific elements of larger supply operations. Key activities include planning, procurement, contracting, customs clearance, warehousing, in-country transport, and distribution, alongside monitoring of supplies, services, and construction works. The officer will collaborate with programmes to define supply interventions that meet programmatic needs and achieve results for children, while also offering technical and advisory support to governments and national partners on supply chain management.
Responsibilities
Key functions and accountabilities include supervising the supply team, ensuring effective supply chain service delivery, and managing emergency response operations. The role involves close collaboration with programme teams and implementing partners to align supply chain activities with programmatic goals. Providing technical and advisory support to government and national systems on supply chain management is crucial. The officer will also focus on innovation, products, and markets within the supply chain. This includes managing and monitoring the effective use of financial and material resources, and directing a team of professional and support staff. A good understanding of UNICEF programmes, public procurement principles, financial and legal aspects of supply chain issues, ethics, and risk management is essential for successful operations.
Work Experience
A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience at national and international levels in supply, logistics, procurement, contracting, administration, or other directly related technical fields is required.
