Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to provide specialized support to the UNICEF Malawi Partnerships Unit in resource mobilization. In a competitive donor environment, the consultant will conduct in-depth donor scoping, analyze funding priorities, and contribute to the development of a Resource Mobilization Strategy. This role is crucial for ensuring timely delivery of high-quality outputs, including resource mobilization analyses and donor reporting, while allowing existing staff to manage their operational and programmatic priorities. The consultant will enhance the unit's capacity to secure funding and strengthen partnerships, ultimately contributing to UNICEF's mission for every child.
Responsibilities
The consultant will conduct comprehensive scoping and analysis of donor priorities, funding trends, and partnership opportunities aligned with UNICEF's strategic objectives. This includes mapping and assessing potential funding avenues, donor interests, and emerging financing mechanisms within the current donor landscape. A key responsibility is to develop foundational inputs and recommendations for the formulation of a robust Resource Mobilization (RM) Strategy. The consultant will also support the development and refinement of resource mobilization approaches, including proposal development and the creation of partnership positioning materials. Furthermore, they will provide technical expertise in drafting, reviewing, editing, and ensuring the quality assurance of donor reports, proposals, briefs, and other partnership/resource mobilization documents, ensuring compliance with quality standards, donor requirements, and organizational guidelines. The role may also involve providing interim reporting support and coordination, including input consolidation and follow-up, and preparing summary briefs, analytical notes, and recommendations to inform strategic decision-making on partnerships and resource mobilization.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in resource mobilization, donor relations, partnership management, or international development is required. Proven experience in donor mapping, funding analysis, and strategy development is essential. Demonstrated experience in writing and quality assuring donor reports and proposals is also required. Experience with UN agencies or international NGOs is highly desirable.
