Job Purpose
The Akelius Digital Language Course initiative in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), implemented by UNICEF since June 2020, aims to improve digital infrastructure and teacher capacity in language learning. The project has equipped 38 schools with digital tools and trained over 450 teachers in blended learning. The initiative has reached over 20,000 children, including many on the move, through formal and extracurricular activities. Significant investments ensure scalability and sustainability. However, challenges remain in teacher competencies with educational technology (EdTech). UNICEF plans to scale up the initiative to 31 additional schools in Una-Sana Canton, requiring substantial support for management, coordination, planning, delivery, and monitoring.
Responsibilities
The Akelius Field Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting the scale-up of the Akelius Digital Language Course initiative in Una-Sana Canton. This involves managing, coordinating, planning, delivering, and monitoring activities related to the expansion of the program to 31 additional schools. The consultant will work to enhance digital infrastructure and build the capacity of teachers in utilizing digital tools for language learning. This includes providing ongoing support to teachers in integrating blended learning approaches and strengthening their digital skills. The consultant will also ensure the effective use of digital devices and network infrastructure, addressing challenges related to educational technology. Collaboration with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and key education institutions will be essential to ensure the inclusivity and sustainability of the program, reaching diverse groups of children, including those on the move. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proactive engagement to ensure the successful implementation and monitoring of project activities.
Work Experience
Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience, with specific experience in education, technology, and digital learning.
