Job Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to provide subject-specific technical support to the Ministry of Education and Science (MoES) for the development, piloting, finalization, and institutionalization of Competency-Based Education (CBE)-aligned Tajik Language Teaching and Learning Materials (TLMs) for Grades 7 and 8. This role builds upon previous achievements and ensures coherence across curriculum, professional learning, and assessment workstreams. The consultant will provide technical leadership to the national Tajik Language Working Group, ensuring all materials align with national standards, are age-appropriate, gender- and disability-responsive, and produced in Tajik to publication-ready quality. Coordination with other workstreams and strengthening national capacity through training are key objectives.
Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership to the national Tajik Language Working Group on the development of Grades 7 and 8 Tajik Language TLMs, including student workbooks, textbooks, teacher’s guides, classroom assessments, and end-of-grade examinations. Ensure all developed TLMs are aligned with the revised CBE curriculum and national standards, are age-appropriate, gender- and disability-responsive, and produced in Tajik to publication-ready quality. Coordinate Tajik Language inputs and outputs with the Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) Working Group and the Assessment Working Group to ensure the three workstreams advance as a coherent package. Strengthen national capacity by training Tajik Language TLM authors, reviewers, and pilot-school teachers through MoES affiliated institutions and pedagogical universities. Lead the piloting of Tajik Language TLMs in 30 selected schools, evaluate pilot results, and prepare the final Tajik Language package for MoES endorsement and national rollout. Work in close, day-to-day collaboration with national MoES coordinators and counterparts, proactively supporting them and responding to implementation challenges to safeguard timelines, quality, and institutional ownership.
Work Experience
At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in Tajik Language education at policy, management, and operational levels. Documented experience working with the MoES and its affiliated institutions on CBE-aligned curriculum, TLMs, learning assessment, or teacher development. Previous experience in the current education reform, specifically the revision of Tajik Language TLMs with the MoES, is required.
