Job Purpose
The consultancy aims to strengthen the child protection system in India, providing strategic and technical support with a specific focus on Family-Based Alternative Care (FBAC). This involves supporting system strengthening, implementing care reform, and documenting best practices aligned with national priorities and global frameworks. The consultant will engage in strong and sustained advocacy and liaison with UNICEF Child Protection Network colleagues, the Ministry of Women and Child Development, NGO partners, and other relevant stakeholders, particularly on interventions aimed at policy-oriented service delivery. The consultant will offer professional expertise and assistance, working closely with UNICEF towards agreed outcomes and results, adapting to evolving needs on a continuous basis.
Responsibilities
The consultant will provide strategic and technical support to strengthen the child protection system in India, with a primary focus on Family-Based Alternative Care (FBAC). This includes supporting the implementation of care reform initiatives and documenting best practices that align with national priorities and global child protection frameworks. A key responsibility will be to conduct strong and sustained advocacy and liaison activities with various stakeholders, including UNICEF Child Protection Network colleagues, the Ministry of Women and Child Development, and NGO partners. The consultant will ensure policy-oriented delivery of services through these engagements. They will offer professional expertise and assistance to UNICEF, working collaboratively towards achieving agreed-upon outcomes and results, and will be expected to adapt to evolving needs throughout the consultancy period. This role requires close collaboration with internal and external partners to advance child protection goals.
Work Experience
Minimum of 8 years’ experience in child protection, specifically on alternative care-related programs. Experience in research, monitoring, report writing, and working with government or UN agencies is preferred.
