Job Purpose
The UNICEF Learning Innovation Hub seeks a consultant to bolster the implementation and expansion of digital learning initiatives. This role will support the Center of Excellence in Nairobi and UNICEF country programs across the West, Central, and East Africa (WCA and ESA) regions. The focus will be on advancing the Learning Passport (LP) platform and the Accessible Digital Textbooks (ADT) initiative. The consultant will provide crucial technical guidance and targeted support to strengthen digital learning ecosystems, ensuring expanded access to quality education for all children, especially marginalized, out-of-school, or emergency-affected populations. This includes supporting national digital learning platforms, teacher professional development, and continuity of learning in various connectivity environments, while also ensuring inclusive and accessible learning materials.
Responsibilities
The consultant will provide technical guidance and targeted support for the implementation of the Learning Passport (LP) in the West, Central, and East Africa (WCA and ESA) regions. This includes supporting the rollout of the Accessible Digital Textbooks (ADT) initiative in implementing and interested countries, introducing a digital inclusion pathway for educators. The role involves technically supporting the CoE Digital Education Specialist and the LIH Innovation Manager in facilitating regional knowledge exchange and responding to country technical assistance requests. This support will focus on ensuring continuity of learning through the LP and other digital learning interventions for out-of-school children, displaced children, and those affected by climate and other emergencies. Working collaboratively with Centers of Excellence (CoEs) and global teams, the consultant will contribute to the implementation, monitoring, and enhancement of digital learning programs. The ultimate goal is to expand inclusive and equitable learning opportunities across WCA and ESA, in alignment with the Nairobi CoE and the ADT Initiative under the Global Learning Innovation Hub.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of professional experience in Digital Education is required, with demonstrated program management capacity involving multiple stakeholders. Experience with digital learning for children with disabilities, user-driven design processes (UX/UI), and UNICEF programs like ADT and Learning Passport is preferred. Experience in developing countries and UN agencies is an asset.
