Job Purpose
The purpose of this assignment is to provide subject-specific technical support to the Ministry of Education and Science (MoES) for the development, piloting, finalization, and institutionalization of Competency-Based Education (CBE)-aligned Math and Geometry Teaching and Learning Materials (TLMs) for Grades 7 and 8. This will build upon the results achieved in Phase I of the IsDB/GPE/OFID Education Reform Project. The consultant will ensure coherence, sequencing, and quality across the curriculum, professional learning, and assessment workstreams of Component 2. The role involves guiding the MoES in creating student-centered materials that foster critical thinking, literacy, communication skills, comprehension, and inclusion, aligning with national education priorities and reform agendas.
Responsibilities
Provide subject-specific technical support to the MoES for the development, piloting, finalization, and institutionalization of CBE-aligned Math and Geometry TLMs for Grades 7 and 8. Ensure coherence, sequencing, and quality across the curriculum, professional learning, and assessment workstreams of Component 2. Develop student-centered materials that promote critical thinking, literacy, communication skills, comprehension, and inclusion. Apply strong knowledge and skills in Math and Geometry curriculum and TLM development based on Competency-Based Education principles. Work closely with national coordinators and proactively support national counterparts. Guide policy discussions with multi-disciplinary teams (TLM, CPL, Assessment). Deliver high-quality outputs under tight timeframes. Ensure familiarity with the Tajikistan education system and NSED 2030 priorities. Coordinate effectively with various stakeholders involved in the project. Provide analytical and conceptual thinking to address challenges in TLM development. Communicate effectively through excellent writing, editorial, and presentation skills.
Work Experience
At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in Math and Geometry education at policy, management, and operational levels. Documented experience working with the MoES on CBE-aligned curriculum, TLMs, learning assessment, or teacher development. Previous experience in the revision of Math and Geometry TLMs with the MoES is required.
