Job Purpose
The WASH Officer reports to the WASH Officer, Malakal, for supervision. The role is accountable for professional technical contribution to programme/project design, planning, administration, monitoring, and evaluation of WASH programme/project activities. This includes data analysis and progress reporting, with a commitment to enhancing teamwork and capacity building, all in support of achieving planned objectives aligned with country programme goals and strategy. The position contributes to the overall mission of UNICEF in ensuring children's rights and well-being through effective WASH interventions.
Responsibilities
The WASH Officer is responsible for programme development and planning, ensuring that WASH initiatives are aligned with UNICEF's strategic objectives and country programme goals. This includes managing, monitoring, and delivering results for WASH programmes and projects effectively. The role provides essential technical and operational support to programme implementation, ensuring that activities are carried out efficiently and according to standards. A key aspect of the role involves humanitarian WASH preparedness and response, ensuring that UNICEF is ready to address WASH needs in emergency situations. Furthermore, the officer will focus on communication, networking, and partnership building with relevant stakeholders to strengthen WASH efforts. Finally, the position will drive innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building within the WASH sector to enhance sustainability and impact.
Work Experience
2 years of relevant work experience in Partnerships, Planning, Programme Management, WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene), and any other related fields. Proven experience in emergency water supply, sanitation, and hygiene in developing countries is also desirable.
