Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to provide expert technical support to UNICEF's Global Practice on Child Nutrition and Development. The role focuses on developing and advancing the climate resilience of global nutrition programmes. This is crucial to protect children's nutrition amidst increasing climate hazards that threaten to reverse progress in combating child malnutrition. The consultant will contribute to thought leadership, research, partnerships, technical assistance, capacity building, and advocacy efforts, all aimed at integrating climate resilience into nutrition interventions and safeguarding children's well-being in a changing climate.
Responsibilities
The consultant will contribute to global thought leadership by developing products on the links between climate change and maternal/child nutrition, informing policy and programming. This includes creating a brief on climate nutrition anticipatory action and a collection of case studies on country-level programming. In research and evidence, the consultant will support UNICEF's global climate nutrition evidence agenda, including generating evidence, developing research proposals, designing and implementing studies, and documenting findings. This involves creating guidance documents on climate nutrition vulnerability analysis and monitoring. The role also entails contributing to the identification and development of internal and external partnerships to advance climate-resilient nutrition, representing UNICEF in relevant forums. Furthermore, the consultant will provide technical assistance to country offices, update the online climate nutrition toolkit, and support staff capacity building through workshops and webinars. Finally, the consultant will provide technical support for developing funding proposals that incorporate climate-resilient nutrition actions.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant professional experience in nutrition, public health, climate change adaptation, or related fields. Experience in developing countries and with international organizations like UNICEF is highly desirable.
