Job Purpose
The Procurement Assistant will provide assistance with the procurement cycle for a segment of products, ensuring effective services to customers. The role involves accurate and timely processing of requisitions and requests from initiation to completion and closure of orders, with the ultimate goal of meeting customer needs and requirements. This position operates within the Child Survival Centre (CSC) of the UNICEF Supply Division, specifically within the Medicines Unit, supporting country programmes and partners with the timely delivery of quality, affordable medicines and supplies. The assistant will perform all procurement activities in compliance with UNICEF Financial Rules and Regulations, Supply guidelines, and other applicable procedures under the supervision of a Contracts Specialist.
Responsibilities
Assist in managing the procurement cycle for assigned product segments, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards. Process requisitions and requests efficiently, from initiation through to order closure, maintaining accurate records and documentation. Provide timely and effective support to internal and external customers, addressing inquiries and resolving issues related to procurement processes. Ensure all procurement activities are conducted in strict compliance with UNICEF Financial Rules and Regulations, Supply Division guidelines, and other relevant procurement policies and procedures. Collaborate with Contracts Specialists and other team members to facilitate smooth procurement operations. Support the timely delivery of medicines and supplies by the Medicines Unit within the Child Survival Centre. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of procurement best practices and UNICEF’s supply chain strategies. Contribute to the optimization of supply chain processes by identifying areas for improvement in efficiency and effectiveness. Assist in preparing reports and analyses related to procurement activities as required. Ensure accurate data entry and management within procurement systems.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in procurement, supply chain, or a related administrative field is required. Experience in an international organization or UN system is an asset.
