Job Purpose
Under the guidance of the Polio Team Lead, this role supports the development, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the polio component of the health programme at the national level. The position focuses on strengthening national strategies, operational readiness, microplanning, cold chain and logistics, community engagement, and data use for polio eradication, ensuring alignment with the UNICEF Country Programme and national priorities. The primary goal is to support the National Emergency Operations Centre in planning, execution, and monitoring of polio eradication efforts, ensuring high-quality microplans, on-site supervision, cold chain integrity, community engagement, and data-driven reports. The role involves extensive fieldwork at state and local levels to translate national strategies into actionable local activities.
Responsibilities
1. Microplanning Support: Assist in the development and refinement of microplans for polio eradication activities. 2. Operational Readiness: Ensure all operational aspects are prepared for effective campaign implementation. 3. On-site Campaign Supervision: Provide direct supervision during vaccination campaigns to ensure quality and adherence to protocols. 4. Vaccine Supply and Wastage Management: Oversee vaccine supply chains and manage wastage to ensure efficiency and efficacy. 5. Community Engagement and Refusal Management: Develop and implement strategies for community engagement and address vaccine refusal. 6. Post-Campaign Data and Reporting: Collect, analyze, and report on post-campaign data to inform future strategies. 7. Partnership and Liaison: Build and maintain relationships with national and sub-national partners. 8. Strategic and Evidence-based Planning: Contribute to strategic planning based on evidence and data. 9. Accountability: Ensure accountability for all programme activities and outcomes.
Work Experience
At least 5 years of relevant work experience at national and/or sub-national levels in Health, polio eradication, immunization, public health, epidemiology, vaccine logistics, cold chain management, community engagement, health program management, monitoring and evaluation, or primary health care.
