Job Purpose
The Senior Security Associate (GS-7, TA) in Cox’s Bazar Field Office reports to the Chief of Field Office and receives technical supervision from the Security Manager/Specialist. This role provides essential technical, operational, and administrative support for security management and services. The associate applies theoretical and technical skills to research, collect, analyze, and present security-related information and data, ensuring adherence to UN Security Management System policies and procedures. Key areas of focus include security risk management, emergency preparedness, and crisis response, contributing to the safety and security of UNICEF personnel and operations in a challenging environment.
Responsibilities
The Senior Security Associate is responsible for Security Risk Management and Planning, which includes assessing security risks, developing mitigation strategies, and contributing to security plans. They provide Safety and Security Services, ensuring the implementation of security policies and procedures, conducting security assessments, and responding to security incidents. The role involves Security Networking and Partnership Building, liaising with UN security focal points, local authorities, and other stakeholders to enhance information sharing and coordination. Additionally, the associate supports Knowledge Management and Capacity Building by disseminating security advisories, organizing training sessions, and promoting security awareness among staff. This includes managing ambiguity and complexity in security operations, driving results for impact, and maintaining strong partnerships to ensure the safety and security of all UNICEF operations and personnel.
Work Experience
At least 7 years of relevant work experience in Security, Emergency, security management, risk management, emergency management, crisis management, physical security, security operations, critical staff security issues, and women security issues.
