Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to finalize and support the rollout of the Hand Hygiene Implementation Toolkit, a crucial resource for scaling effective, inclusive, and sustainable hand hygiene programs in community and school settings. The role involves contextualizing the toolkit for schools, piloting it in at least two African countries, and providing technical assistance to country offices on WASH in healthcare facilities. The consultant will also develop knowledge products to document the toolkit's use and revise it based on feedback for a final public version. This work is vital for accelerating progress towards universal access to basic hand hygiene services, a key public health measure that significantly reduces diarrhoeal and respiratory infections, especially in least developed countries.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for finalizing the Hand Hygiene Implementation Toolkit, including developing comprehensive training modules and an assessment tool. A key task will be supporting the piloting of this toolkit through direct engagement with at least two UNICEF Country Offices, providing hands-on guidance and support. Based on the feedback gathered from Country Offices and partners during the piloting phase, the consultant will revise the toolkit to prepare it for a final public release. Furthermore, the consultant will develop knowledge and communication products to effectively document the implementation and impact of the Hand Hygiene Toolkit. In addition to hand hygiene, the consultant will contextualize the Hand Hygiene Implementation Toolkit specifically for school settings and support selected Country Offices in applying it within schools. The role also includes providing support to a selected country office, specifically Vietnam, on developing SBC concepts and frameworks, and integrating hand hygiene into SBC tools. Technical assistance to country offices on WASH in healthcare facilities activities will be provided as requested.
Work Experience
A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in the WASH sector, with at least 5 years focused on behavior change for hand hygiene. Prior experience in developing curriculum and training content for hand hygiene and WASH in schools programs is required, along with experience in WASH in healthcare facilities and training/facilitation for adult learners.
