Job Purpose
The Senior Finance Associate is responsible for providing specialized financial tasks, ensuring accurate and timely delivery in compliance with UNICEF financial rules and regulations. This role requires the capacity to research, adapt, and evaluate irregular cases, and to recommend improvements to process delivery and design. At the G-7 level, the position is expected to operate with a high degree of independence, providing support and oversight to transactional teams. The associate will offer technical expertise, proficiency, and procedural oversight, ensuring adherence to standards, policies, and best practices. They will lead stream-specific project implementations and cross-functional initiatives, ensuring business unit needs are accurately represented and that support services have a broad scope and impact.
Responsibilities
Provide support and oversight to transactional teams, offering technical expertise and procedural guidance to ensure adherence to standards, policies, and best practices. Exercise autonomy in leading project implementations and cross-functional initiatives with stakeholders. Ensure accurate representation of business units’ needs in relevant projects and forums. Report incidents promptly and facilitate efficient resolution. Monitor transactional team performance, identify gaps, ensure quality control, and proactively address recurring issues. Lead the development and maintenance of critical process documentation. Provide data-driven insights and reports to support informed decision-making. Handle sensitive information securely in line with data privacy rules. Monitor process performance trends and suggest optimizations. Offer high-level insights into operational risks, challenges, and strategic opportunities. Identify systemic risks and present well-structured mitigation strategies. Lead or contribute to business solution initiatives, taking ownership of internal project delivery, including pilot implementations. Identify and resolve technical or process-related bottlenecks, proposing practical, innovative solutions. Independently conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and identify areas for process redesign.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional experience in finance or accounting is required. Experience in an international organization or UN system is an asset.
