Job Purpose

The purpose of this consultancy is to provide technical assistance to the Education section for the implementation of early childhood education projects, initial literacy in rural and indigenous contexts, and strengthening educational planning processes. This role supports the expansion of coverage and improvement of quality in the context of demographic transition and low birth rates. The consultant will contribute to UNICEF Argentina's Cooperation Programme 2026-2030, aiming for 6 million children and adolescents to learn and develop life and work skills. The position is crucial for strengthening institutional capacities in educational system management, policy design, and teacher training to ensure fundamental learning, especially for vulnerable populations.

Responsibilities

Provide technical assistance to the Education section for the implementation of early childhood education projects, initial literacy in rural and indigenous contexts, and strengthening educational planning processes. Support the expansion of coverage and improvement of quality in educational services, considering demographic transition and low birth rates. Contribute to the UNICEF Argentina Cooperation Programme 2026-2030, focusing on ensuring children and adolescents acquire essential learning and life skills. Assist provincial and national education authorities in strengthening institutional capacities for system management, policy design, and training of school directors and teachers. Ensure fundamental learning in Language and Mathematics, particularly for children and adolescents in vulnerable situations. Facilitate timely access to early childhood education and promote educational inclusion for adolescents out of school. Generate evidence and provide technical assistance to governments to strengthen strategic planning in the context of demographic transition and ensure access to kindergarten. Monitor and evaluate project progress, providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement. Collaborate with internal UNICEF teams and external stakeholders, including government officials and NGOs, to achieve project objectives.

Work Experience

Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in education project implementation, technical assistance, and policy development, preferably in early childhood education or related areas. Experience working with international organizations or UN agencies is an asset.
