Job Purpose

The purpose of this consultancy is to provide technical support to UNICEF's education section in Colombia. The consultant will design, implement, and document a strategy to improve the quality of early childhood education. This strategy must align with national technical references and curriculum frameworks, as well as the progress of the national and regional offices. Key areas of focus include early literacy, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and essential learning from early childhood.

Responsibilities

Provide technical support to the UNICEF Colombia education section in designing, implementing, and documenting a strategy for improving the quality of early childhood education. Ensure alignment with national technical references and curriculum frameworks. Support the integration of regional office progress and developments in early literacy, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and essential learning from early childhood. Analyze the current context of early childhood education in Colombia, considering government reports and initiatives from the Ministry of Education and the Colombian Institute for Family Welfare (ICBF). Develop methodologies and approaches for early childhood development (ECD) to be used in the strategy. Contribute to strategies for resilience and inclusive education, particularly in conflict-affected and migration-affected territories. Document the implementation process and outcomes of the strategy, providing recommendations for future interventions.

Work Experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience in the formulation, implementation, and/or monitoring and evaluation of social and educational projects focused on strengthening the quality of early childhood education and comprehensive care for early childhood.
