Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to identify consultants for the writing and editing of communication and programmatic materials that will help visualize the situation of children and adolescents in Guatemala and UNICEF's work in the country. Communication and advocacy are fundamental pillars of UNICEF's Strategic Plan in Guatemala, recognized as critical and cross-cutting avenues and central organizational functions to achieve sustainable and impactful results for children and adolescents. UNICEF utilizes various strategic communication resources and platforms to highlight its programmatic priorities and intervention impact, aiming to influence key audiences and keep children's rights and well-being at the center of development agendas, public policy formulation, and social promotion, awareness, and mobilization processes.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for coordinating promptly with the UNICEF Guatemala Communications team for the planning and development of each requested product. This includes conducting interviews, gathering testimonials, and performing documentary research as required for each assignment. The consultant will develop high-quality written products, aligned with UNICEF's institutional brand guidelines, style, and tone. They will incorporate observations and adjustments requested by UNICEF within the established deadlines and ensure the confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive information obtained during interviews or field visits. The consultant must also comply with the agreed-upon delivery times for each product. UNICEF will provide technical and editorial guidelines for product development, facilitate programmatic information, technical inputs, and reference materials, and coordinate links with counterparts, partners, or field staff to facilitate interviews and visits when applicable.
Work Experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience in writing and editing for development organizations or similar contexts. Experience working with children's rights or social issues is an asset.
