Job Purpose
UNICEF seeks to hire specialized photography consultants to provide high-quality photographic and documentary coverage of children and adolescents in Guatemala and UNICEF's work in the country. This role is crucial for UNICEF's communication and advocacy strategy, aiming to document, visualize, and effectively communicate the impact of its programs and actions. The generated images will serve as a key tool to raise awareness, foster empathy, and reinforce institutional messages to diverse audiences, both nationally and internationally. The consultants will ensure that photographic material faithfully reflects UNICEF's values, principles, and quality standards, adhering to the organization's graphic line and visual guidelines.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for coordinating promptly with the UNICEF Guatemala Communications team to plan and execute each requested photographic coverage. This includes participating in in-person or virtual meetings with UNICEF and programmatic areas to define objectives, key messages, and specific requirements for each assignment. The consultant will be expected to produce high-quality technical and narrative images, consistent with UNICEF's visual identity, while respecting the rights, dignity, and protection of children. They will also be responsible for ensuring the correct preparation of photo captions in English and managing informed consent for image usage. The scope of work may involve various categories of products and services as detailed in the Terms of Reference, and UNICEF reserves the right to select specific deliverables within the long-term agreement.
Work Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in photography, with a strong portfolio demonstrating experience in documenting social issues, human interest stories, and programmatic work, preferably in development or humanitarian contexts. Experience working with UN agencies or similar international organizations is an asset.
