Job Purpose
The Evidence and Evaluation Specialist will support the rollout of UNICEF’s Digital Education & AI Strategy 2025–2030 by coordinating research and M&E across Cohort 1 countries. This role involves engaging with country offices and partners, providing expert technical advisory services, managing research contracts, transforming monitoring data into actionable insights, and coordinating multi-country evidence generation on digital education programming. The aim is to demonstrate how digital and AI-enabled approaches can strengthen teaching, improve learning outcomes, enhance education systems, and reduce inequities at scale across 18 diverse countries.
Responsibilities
Coordinate research and M&E activities for the Digital Education Strategy implementation in Cohort 1 countries. Engage closely with UNICEF country offices and partners to provide expert technical advisory services on research and evaluation methodologies. Manage independent research contracts, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality outputs. Transform Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and monitoring data into actionable insights to inform strategy adjustments and programmatic improvements. Coordinate multi-country evidence generation on cutting-edge digital education programming, focusing on the impact on learning and skilling outcomes. Work with the Global Digital Education and Learning Innovation Hub Team, the Education Centre of Excellence, and UNICEF Country Offices to align monitoring, evaluation, and research approaches. Support the refinement, operationalization, and interpretation of education metrics and indicators, including SDG 4. Coordinate third-party research, evaluation, or implementation partners, managing deliverables, timelines, and review processes across multiple stakeholders.
Work Experience
A minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience in designing, managing, coordinating, or technically advising research and evaluation activities, preferably in education, EdTech, or international development contexts. Experience advising on various research methods (e.g., impact evaluation, implementation science, RCTs, A/B testing) is essential.
