Job Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Section Chief, the Senior Programme Associate supports in leading and coordinating programme support functions across the project cycle. This role specializes in planning, budgeting, CSO partnership management, monitoring, reporting, and closing financial commitments. The position ensures that programme activities are technically robust, financially sound, and fully compliant with UNICEF policies and donor agreements. The associate contributes to informed decisions by presenting synthesized data, flagging risks, and recommending corrective measures to achieve results aligning with programme goals. This role is crucial for the effective implementation and management of UNICEF's programmes aimed at protecting children's rights.
Responsibilities
The Senior Programme Associate is responsible for supporting programme planning and coordination, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic objectives and donor requirements. This includes assisting in the development of work plans, budgets, and proposals. The role involves robust monitoring and reporting on programme activities, tracking progress against targets, and identifying potential challenges. A key function is data and knowledge management, ensuring that programme information is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible for decision-making. The associate will manage financial aspects, including grants, ensuring compliance with financial rules and regulations. Implementing partnership management involves working closely with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to ensure effective collaboration and support. Providing administrative and operational support is essential for the smooth functioning of the programme. The role also includes quality assurance and innovation, seeking opportunities to improve programme delivery and impact. Finally, the associate will support learning and capacity development initiatives for staff and partners.
Work Experience
At least 7 years of relevant work experience in Administration, programme support, supply, supply chain, or partnership management is required. Relevant experience at the country level, particularly in development, fragile settings, and humanitarian contexts, is desirable.
