Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to build a roster of expert writers and editors to support UNICEF's communication and programme needs in Papua New Guinea. The experts will be responsible for developing high-quality written content that effectively communicates UNICEF's mission, achievements, and the challenges faced by children in the country. This includes drafting reports, proposals, press releases, website content, and other materials. The role is crucial in ensuring that UNICEF's messaging is clear, compelling, and aligned with its strategic objectives, thereby contributing to advocacy efforts and resource mobilization. The consultants will play a key role in translating complex information into accessible language for various audiences, including government partners, donors, and the general public.
Responsibilities
Develop and refine written content for various UNICEF communication channels, including reports, proposals, press releases, website articles, social media posts, and advocacy materials. Ensure all written content is accurate, engaging, and adheres to UNICEF's brand guidelines and communication standards. Edit and proofread documents to ensure clarity, coherence, grammatical correctness, and consistency in tone and style. Collaborate with programme staff, communication specialists, and external stakeholders to gather information and understand content requirements. Translate technical information and data into accessible and compelling narratives that highlight the impact of UNICEF's work. Support the development of communication strategies and materials for specific campaigns or initiatives. Contribute to the development of knowledge products and learning materials. Ensure timely delivery of high-quality written outputs according to project deadlines. Provide expert advice on writing and editing best practices to UNICEF staff. Assist in the review and finalization of key programmatic documents and publications.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of professional experience in writing, editing, and content development, preferably in the development or humanitarian sector. Proven experience in producing high-quality written materials for diverse audiences and purposes. Experience working with UN agencies or international organizations is an asset.
