Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to provide high-quality photographic documentation of children and adolescents in Guatemala and UNICEF's work in the country. This role is crucial for UNICEF's communication and advocacy strategy, aiming to influence key audiences, keep children's rights and equity at the center of development agendas, and strengthen UNICEF's position as a leading voice for children. The consultant will produce attractive, relevant, and high-quality visual content for diverse audiences across multiple channels and platforms, showcasing program results, highlighting priority issues for children, amplifying their voices, and promoting societal engagement for their rights. The photographic services are essential for raising awareness, generating empathy, and reinforcing institutional messages nationally and internationally.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for coordinating timely with the UNICEF Guatemala Communications team for the planning and execution of each requested photographic coverage. This includes participating in in-person or virtual meetings with UNICEF and programmatic areas to define objectives, key messages, and specific requirements for each assignment. The consultant will conduct high-quality photographic coverages, ensuring adherence to UNICEF's technical, ethical, and narrative standards. This involves producing images that accurately reflect UNICEF's values, principles, and quality standards, aligning with the organization's graphic line and visual guidelines. Responsibilities also include ensuring that images are respectful of children's rights, dignity, and protection, and are suitable for use in various communication products and platforms. Additionally, the consultant must ensure the correct preparation of photo captions in English and manage informed consent for image usage, as detailed in the terms of reference.
Work Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in photography, with a focus on documentary, human interest, or social issues. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs, particularly in Latin America, is an asset. A strong portfolio showcasing relevant work is required.
