Job Purpose
The objective of this consultancy is to support the effective implementation of inclusive, gender- and disability-responsive, and climate-resilient WASH in Schools and MHM interventions in FSM, with a particular focus on adolescent girls and children with disabilities. Given the scale and operational intensity of this programme, UNICEF will engage a local MHM and WASH in Schools Consultant to provide sustained, on-the-ground technical and coordination support to schools, communities, and government counterparts, ensuring timely and high-quality implementation. This role is crucial for addressing the unique challenges faced by children in climate-vulnerable settings, ensuring their access to safe water, sanitation, and menstrual hygiene management.
Responsibilities
Provide sustained, on-the-ground technical and coordination support to schools, communities, and government counterparts for the effective implementation of inclusive, gender- and disability-responsive, and climate-resilient WASH in Schools and MHM interventions in FSM. Focus on adolescent girls and children with disabilities. Strengthen school governance and accreditation systems related to WASH and MHM. Facilitate community and peer-to-peer engagement to sustain behaviour change related to WASH and MHM. Support the development and implementation of climate-resilient and inclusive WASH facilities in schools. Monitor programme activities, collect data, and report on progress, challenges, and lessons learned. Ensure timely and high-quality implementation of programme activities. Collaborate with government agencies, community leaders, international donors, and non-governmental organizations to build partnerships and ensure programme success. Adapt strategies and interventions to changing environments and crisis situations while maintaining focus on project goals and deliverables.
Work Experience
Minimum of one year of professional experience in delivering MHM related programmes in community or school settings in FSM.
