Job Purpose
The Communication Officer will assist in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating communication strategies to give visibility to UNICEF’s work funded by donors. This role aims to bring children’s and women’s issues into the public domain, influence decision-makers in support of UNICEF's mission and objectives in Syria, and enhance the organization’s credibility and brand. The officer is expected to plan and implement content creation and dissemination to position UNICEF as a partner of choice, delivering in a high-pressure environment and collaborating with diverse teams and networks.
Responsibilities
Ensure timely production and follow-up of communication products and materials to support country communication strategy, regional and global campaigns, and priorities for resource mobilization. Provide effective and timely professional assistance in developing, drafting, and maintaining contact information, materials, and relationships with journalists and media outlets across print, TV, radio, and web to communicate UNICEF's cooperation story. Undertake regular monitoring and evaluation activities according to the work plan to ensure maximum impact and continuous improvement of country communication efforts, ensuring results and reports are prepared and shared on a timely basis. Maintain and develop the Country Office’s contact list of individuals, groups, organizations, and fora (including Government, UN, and bilateral counterparts) whose support is essential for achieving advocacy and communication objectives and who can actively participate in special events and activities that further country programme goals.
Work Experience
Minimum one year of practical professional work experience in communication, print and broadcast media, or interactive digital media. Field work experience and background/familiarity with emergency situations are required.
