Job Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Social Policy Specialist, the Social Policy Officer provides technical support and assistance in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of disability-inclusive programming. The incumbent supports the management of programme partnerships for the delivery of inclusive services, contributes to inter-agency and sectoral coordination on disability inclusion, assists with programmatic oversight of screening and identification activities, and helps strengthen integrated information and feedback mechanisms that serve a growing number of programmes. The role encompasses direct programme work with civil society partners, organizations of persons with disabilities, and coordination with other UNICEF sections and external stakeholders, ensuring that children with disabilities and their families can access social protection, screening and referral services, and responsive feedback mechanisms on an equitable basis.
Responsibilities
The Social Policy Officer will be responsible for supporting partnerships for inclusive service delivery, ensuring that civil society organizations and partners are effectively engaged in implementing disability-inclusive programmes. This includes managing relationships, providing technical guidance, and ensuring compliance with programme objectives. The incumbent will contribute to coordination on disability inclusion by participating in inter-agency and sectoral coordination meetings, sharing UNICEF's perspectives, and advocating for the rights and inclusion of children with disabilities. They will provide programmatic support for screening and identification activities, assisting in the development and implementation of effective mechanisms to identify children with disabilities and connect them with necessary services. Furthermore, the role involves strengthening information and feedback mechanisms, ensuring that feedback from children, families, and communities is collected, analyzed, and used to improve programme delivery. The officer will also be involved in programme monitoring and knowledge management, tracking progress, documenting lessons learned, and contributing to reports and evaluations to enhance programme effectiveness and accountability.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in social policy, social protection, disability inclusion, or related programme areas is required. Experience working with civil society organizations, partnerships management, and/or coordination mechanisms is also required, along with knowledge of disability-inclusive approaches and the rights of persons with disabilities.
