Job Purpose
The Office of Innovation (OoI) is seeking a consultant to lead the development of a comprehensive Digital and AI Strategy for the UPSHIFT program. This role is crucial for accelerating the program's scale through blended delivery models and AI integration, aiming to support teachers, strengthen systems, and reduce delivery costs while enhancing learning outcomes. The consultant will focus on identifying scalable digital tools, designing AI-enabled project evaluation and facilitation aids, and ensuring systematic knowledge management across the UPSHIFT community of practice. The ultimate goal is to consolidate efforts, evaluate strategic scaling approaches, and lower the financial and human burdens for country offices transitioning to digital blended deliveries, thereby accelerating results for children and young people globally.
Responsibilities
Lead the development of a comprehensive Digital and AI Strategy for the UPSHIFT program, focusing on accelerating its scale through blended delivery models and AI integration. Identify and recommend scalable digital tools and platforms that can enhance the delivery and impact of the UPSHIFT program. Design AI-enabled solutions for project evaluation, facilitation, and personalized learning experiences within the UPSHIFT framework. Develop strategies for systematic knowledge management to ensure easy access to existing expertise, lessons learned, and best practices across the UPSHIFT community of practice. Analyze current UPSHIFT delivery models and propose pathways for digital transformation, with a specific focus on reducing financial and human resource burdens for country offices. Ensure the strategy aligns with UNICEF's broader innovation and digital transformation goals. Facilitate consultations and workshops with key stakeholders, including country office representatives, program managers, and technology experts, to gather input and ensure buy-in for the strategy. Develop a roadmap for the implementation of the Digital and AI Strategy, including timelines, key performance indicators, and resource requirements. Evaluate the potential impact of AI on learning outcomes and program scalability. Ensure the strategy addresses ethical considerations related to AI use in education and child-focused programs.
Work Experience
A minimum of 12 years of proven professional experience in information systems development. A minimum of 8 years in learning management systems development and deployment. At least 5 years of experience in working in Education systems and deploying digital solutions in the global south. Proven track record in design and/or implementation of skills-building programs at scale. Experience in developing AI systems or workflows for different learning environments.
