The Digital Inclusion program, within the Digital Impact Division, aims to improve equitable, affordable digital access for children, schools, and communities by engaging with governments and partners on connectivity and digital public goods.

Job Purpose

The Communication Specialist (Engagement) will be responsible for strategizing, shaping, and orchestrating how UNICEF's Digital Inclusion program engages with, is positioned in, and represented within various ecosystems and events. This includes high-stakes opportunities, hosted events, and leveraging external platforms. The role encompasses the design and production of strategic convenings, industry sector events, donor-facing events, high-level roundtables, intimate engagements, curated formats, and frugal yet creative engagements that directly advance program objectives and resource mobilization goals. The specialist will contribute to the Communication Team within the Digital Inclusion section, supporting the broader Digital Impact Division's deliverables, including initiatives like Giga.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement strategic engagement plans for the Digital Inclusion program, identifying key opportunities and target audiences. Design and produce a range of engagement formats, from high-level roundtables and industry events to intimate convenings and creative, low-cost engagements, ensuring alignment with program objectives and resource mobilization goals. Manage the end-to-end logistics for these events, including venue coordination, AV, catering, travel, and accommodation for participants, with a focus on accessible event design. Develop detailed run-of-show documents and contingency plans. Maintain and manage an engagement calendar, ensuring timely planning and execution. Cultivate and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including governments, regulators, operators, public institutions, donors, and industry partners, utilizing CRM systems. Leverage AI tools for audience research, briefing preparation, post-event synthesis, and stakeholder mapping to enhance engagement strategies and efficiency. Contribute to the development and management of event systems and knowledge management practices within the Digital Inclusion team.

Work Experience

A minimum of five years of professional experience in event strategy and production, stakeholder engagement, or strategic communications within international organizations, development finance, diplomatic, or senior corporate contexts. A strong understanding of multilateral and bilateral donor landscapes, including the EU, World Bank, and bilateral development agencies, is required.
