Job Purpose
The Education Specialist will support the development and implementation of education programs, focusing on systems and institutional strengthening to improve access for vulnerable out-of-school children and those at risk of dropping out, particularly adolescent girls and children with disabilities. This role emphasizes providing learning pathways and innovations for adolescents, utilizing evidence-based approaches and implementation research to drive policy reforms for gender equity and inclusion. The specialist will foster networking, intersectoral, and multi-sectoral collaboration to address the needs of adolescent girls and contribute to improved learning outcomes and equitable, inclusive education for marginalized children, aligning with UNICEF's Strategic Plans and results-based management.
Responsibilities
Support programme development and planning, with a specific focus on systems and institutional strengthening, including formal and non-formal school pathways to improve access for out-of-school children and those at risk of dropping out. Manage, monitor, and deliver results for education programmes and projects. Provide technical and operational support throughout the programming processes to facilitate the administration and achievement of results. Foster networking, collaboration, and partnership building with stakeholders. Drive innovations in safe school spaces and alternative learning pathways, manage knowledge, and build capacity within the education sector. Ensure programmes are aligned with UNICEF's Strategic Plans, standards of performance, and accountability framework, contributing to improved learning outcomes and equitable, inclusive education for all children, especially those who are marginalized, disadvantaged, and excluded.
Work Experience
At least 5 years of relevant work experience in education, including education programme management, systems strengthening, inclusive education, adolescent education, girls' education, monitoring and evaluation, education policy, partnership development, capacity building, education in emergencies, education access, programme planning, management, and research.
