Job Purpose
UNICEF Ethiopia is seeking a seasoned professional to manage the day-to-day receipt and dispatch of UNICEF supplies in the UNICEF Warehouse. This role is crucial for ensuring that storage conditions and cargo handling meet product-specific requirements, and that appropriate security measures are maintained to safeguard program supplies. The Warehouse Assistant will play a key part in the efficient operation of the warehouse, contributing to UNICEF's mission to improve the lives of children and women in Ethiopia. Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Warehouse Officer, the Warehouse Assistant manages the daily reception and dispatching of UNICEF supplies. This includes ensuring storage conditions and cargo handling align with product-specific demands and maintaining appropriate security conditions for program supplies. Key accountabilities involve warehousing and inventory management, including assessing warehousing capacity, facilities, equipment, manpower, and processes. The role ensures accurate accounting, reporting, and internal control systems, and proper record maintenance. The assistant prepares stacking and storage plans to optimize space utilization. Responsibilities extend to supervising the receipt of consignments and dispatch of supplies, conducting regular physical inventory counts, and managing dispatch and acknowledgments. This includes preparing dispatch schedules, coordinating with transport companies, and organizing monitoring systems for government receipts. The role also involves ensuring the accuracy and regular updating of the inventory database (VISION) and supervising daily laborers and security guards, reporting any irregularities. The assistant ensures local supplies have proper Purchase Orders, Delivery Notes, and pre-inspection reports before receiving them into the warehouse, and assists in the maintenance and management of the UNICEF Warehouse and Inventory Management ERP VISION.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of relevant work experience in warehousing, inventory management, or logistics is required. Experience with an ERP system like VISION is an asset. Experience in a humanitarian or UN context is desirable.
