Job Purpose
The Gender & Education Consultant will play a crucial role in advancing UNICEF's commitment to gender equality within the education sector. This position will provide essential technical expertise and support to Ministries of Education and other key partners, enhancing their capacity to integrate gender-responsive approaches into educational policies and practices. The consultant will also foster and strengthen partnerships with young feminist organizations and contribute to robust data monitoring and analysis related to gender in education. This role is vital for ensuring that educational systems are equitable, inclusive, and effectively address the specific needs and challenges faced by girls and boys, ultimately contributing to improved learning outcomes and the realization of SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality).
Responsibilities
Provide technical expertise and support to Ministries of Education and other partners for the effective implementation of the Gender at the Centre Initiative. Develop and deliver capacity-building programs and training materials on gender equality in education for national stakeholders. Facilitate and strengthen partnerships with young feminist organizations and youth-led groups working on gender and education issues. Support the collection, analysis, and dissemination of data related to gender in education to inform policy and programming. Contribute to the development of gender-sensitive educational policies, strategies, and interventions. Monitor and evaluate the progress and impact of gender and education initiatives, providing recommendations for improvement. Organize and facilitate workshops, meetings, and consultations with relevant stakeholders. Prepare regular progress reports, analytical documents, and other relevant outputs. Ensure alignment of activities with UNICEF's global and regional strategies on gender and education. Support advocacy efforts to promote gender equality in education at national and sub-national levels. Contribute to knowledge management by documenting lessons learned and best practices.
Work Experience
Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in gender equality, education, or a related field, with a focus on program implementation and capacity building. Experience working with governments and international organizations is desirable.
