Job Purpose
The Security Officer, NO-1, is an entry-level professional position designed for trainees to gain organizational knowledge of security rules, regulations, and processes. This role supplements academic and theoretical knowledge to support career progression. The incumbent provides technical, operational, and administrative assistance in security management and services. This involves researching, collecting, analyzing, and presenting technical security information and data. The position reports to the Chief Field Office for supervision and receives technical support from the Country Security Manager. This role is not intended for long-term tenure, serving as a stepping stone for future responsibilities within the organization.
Responsibilities
Provide technical, operational, and administrative assistance in security management and services. Research, collect, analyze, and present technical security-related information and data. Support the implementation of security policies, procedures, and guidelines. Assist in the development and updating of security plans, risk assessments, and contingency plans. Monitor the security situation in the area of responsibility and report on potential threats and incidents. Conduct security awareness briefings for staff and consultants. Assist in the coordination of security arrangements for meetings, missions, and events. Support the management of security incidents and emergencies, including evacuation and relocation plans. Maintain security records and databases. Contribute to the overall security awareness and preparedness of the office and its personnel. Ensure compliance with UN security management systems and UNICEF security policies. Assist in the vetting of personnel and contractors as required. Support the Chief Field Office and Country Security Manager in all security-related matters.
Work Experience
A minimum of one year of professional experience in security management, risk assessment, or a related field. Experience in a humanitarian or international organization is an asset.
