Job Purpose
The consultancy aims to revise the Maternal, Infant, and Young Child Feeding (AMNJE) framework, the supplementation calendar, and the Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IHAB) in Morocco. This initiative aligns with the National Multisectoral Nutrition Strategy (SNMN) 2024-2030 and WHO/UNICEF recommendations. The consultant will analyze existing data, including the National Nutrition Survey (ENN 2019-2020), to identify structural challenges hindering national and global nutrition goals. The work will focus on addressing persistent issues in maternal and child nutrition, such as stunting and anemia, and proposing integrated solutions to improve nutritional status across the country, particularly in regions with marked disparities.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for conducting a comprehensive review of the current AMNJE framework, supplementation protocols, and IHAB guidelines in Morocco. This includes analyzing existing policies, programs, and operational strategies related to maternal and child nutrition. The consultant will assess the effectiveness of current supplementation practices and identify gaps and areas for improvement, considering regional disparities. A key responsibility will be to analyze epidemiological data, such as the ENN 2019-2020 survey, to understand the prevalence and regional distribution of malnutrition indicators like stunting and anemia. Based on this analysis, the consultant will develop evidence-based recommendations for revising the AMNJE framework, optimizing the supplementation calendar, and enhancing the IHAB strategy. This will involve proposing integrated approaches that combine supplementation, food fortification, and improved nutritional practices. The consultant will also contribute to aligning these revisions with the SNMN 2024-2030 and international best practices, ensuring the proposed changes are practical and sustainable for implementation within the Moroccan context.
