Job Purpose
UNICEF's Immunization Section, Health, Center of Excellence, Global Program Division, is seeking a qualified individual consultant to provide technical and analytical support to the New Vaccine Introduction, Integrated Delivery and Reach Team. The consultant will provide direct technical expertise to countries on Vaccine Portfolio Optimization and Prioritization (VPOP) processes, ensuring timely, evidence-based assistance to selected Gavi-eligible low- and middle-income countries. The role involves strengthening planning, coordination, strategy design, documentation, and deployment of technical assistance for new vaccine introductions and optimization, aligned with Gavi’s Country Vaccine Budgets. The consultant will ensure VPOP outputs are key considerations in National Immunization Strategy (NIS) updates and support holistic Gavi 6.0 applications.
Responsibilities
Provide direct technical expertise to countries on Vaccine Portfolio Optimization and Prioritization (VPOP) processes, ensuring timely, evidence-based assistance to selected Gavi-eligible low- and middle-income countries. Strengthen the planning, coordination, strategy design, documentation, and deployment of technical assistance for the introduction, optimization, and prioritization of new vaccines, aligned with Gavi’s Country Vaccine Budgets. Ensure that VPOP outputs are a key consideration in the National Immunization Strategy (NIS) update or development. Support countries in developing holistic Gavi 6.0 applications to access Gavi support for the 2026-2030 period. Contribute to the establishment of a pre-screened experts’ pool/roster of consultants for potential future engagements. Provide short-term or intermittent technical assistance to Gavi-eligible countries as needed, depending on programmatic needs and resource availability. Synthesize complex technical information for decision-making.
Work Experience
Minimum 8 years of professional experience in immunization program design and management, new vaccine introduction, and/or health systems strengthening in LMIC and MIC contexts. Demonstrated experience supporting Gavi-eligible countries on vaccine introduction or related health systems processes.
