Job Purpose
The Advocacy & Partnerships Consultant will provide strategic and operational support to deliver UNICEF’s WASH Advocacy Plan 2026. This role focuses on UNICEF’s engagement in the UN 2026 Water Conference, including its connected Advocacy Campaign and Youth Leadership Track. The consultant will ensure coherence between the Advocacy Plan and the Conference’s political processes, strengthen youth-led advocacy and accountability mechanisms, and connect fundraising and donor engagement directly to the UNWC campaign. The position aims to advance UNICEF's agenda for clean water and sanitation for children, ensuring that youth voices are amplified and that partnerships are leveraged for maximum impact.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for delivering key advocacy milestones on schedule, ensuring the successful implementation of the Youth Leadership Track through consultations, co-creation labs, plenary sessions, and an accountability platform. A significant part of the role involves advancing a minimum of six donor concept notes/proposals and preparing senior leader briefing packages for all UNWC milestones. The consultant will also deliver at least five major events with full documentation, including briefing notes and speeches, and produce a consolidated report of UNICEF participation at the Kigali Symposium. Additionally, the role includes launching and embedding an internal advocacy plan across UNICEF, producing a final synthesis report post-UNWC 2026, preparing evidence synthesis briefs ahead of the conference, integrating donor visibility into flagship reports and youth track outputs, and maintaining knowledge management through shared folders, monthly updates, and a help desk.
Work Experience
5 to 7 years of experience in advocacy, partner engagement, and programme support, preferably within the WASH sector or related international development fields.
