Job Purpose
The consultancy aims to provide technical assistance to the education sector through a long-term agreement (LTA). This role supports UNICEF's cooperation program (2021-2025) in Uruguay, focusing on strengthening capacities for inclusive education and ensuring adolescents, particularly the disadvantaged, access quality, innovative education. The goal is to equip them with 21st-century skills like resilience, mental health, and life aptitudes upon completing secondary education. The consultant will contribute to addressing key aspects of the right to education, including access, meaningful learning, and completion of compulsory education cycles, aligning with UNICEF's strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
Provide technical assistance to enhance the flexibility and relevance of academic programs, develop innovative proposals for teacher training and classroom practices, and reduce curriculum gaps between adolescent needs and expectations. Support the development and scaling of innovative educational proposals for adolescents at risk of dropping out, such as full-day and extended secondary schools. Assist in designing alternative and flexible models for upper secondary education that balance education and work. Back programs aimed at improving educational completion rates for the most vulnerable and excluded groups. Ensure access and educational continuity for all children and adolescents. Contribute to the design and implementation of strategies that promote inclusive and quality education, aligning with the UNICEF Cooperation Program's goals and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Work Experience
Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in education policy, program development, and technical assistance, preferably in Latin America and the Caribbean. Experience with UNICEF or other UN agencies is an asset.
