Job Purpose
The Supply & Logistics Assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and timely delivery of services managed by the supply unit. This position's impact extends to the successful completion of related processes for clients and directly influences the supply team's reputation for quality and responsiveness. By supporting the supply and logistics operations, the assistant contributes to UNICEF's fundamental mission of promoting the rights of every child, everywhere. This involves ensuring that essential supplies and services reach children and communities, particularly the most disadvantaged, thereby supporting equitable development and the realization of children's human rights as outlined by the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision and guidance of the supervisor, the Supply & Logistics Assistant will be responsible for a range of tasks to support the efficient functioning of the supply and logistics unit. This includes assisting in the procurement process, from requisition to delivery, ensuring compliance with UNICEF rules and regulations. The role involves managing inventory, tracking shipments, and coordinating with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of goods and services. The assistant will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records and documentation related to supply chain activities, including financial transactions and inventory levels. Furthermore, the position requires supporting the logistics of program activities, which may involve coordinating transportation, customs clearance, and distribution of supplies. The assistant will contribute to the preparation of reports on supply chain performance and assist in identifying areas for improvement. This role is critical in ensuring that UNICEF's operational needs are met effectively, thereby supporting the delivery of vital programs for children in Cuba.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in supply chain, logistics, procurement, or a related field is required. Experience working with international organizations or in a developing country context is an asset.
