Job Purpose
The Programme Assistant (G5) is positioned in the Programme Section and provides a broad range of administrative, operational, and procedural support to the section. The incumbent facilitates the implementation, monitoring, and delivery of programme results by ensuring timely and effective execution of tasks aligned with UNICEF rules and regulations. The Cuba Country Office (CCO) initiated the design of the new 2026–2030 Country Programme in June 2024, within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) for the same period. This role is crucial for ensuring that programme activities are carried out efficiently and effectively to support UNICEF's mission in Cuba.
Responsibilities
The Programme Assistant provides a broad range of administrative, operational, and procedural support to the Programme Section. This includes assisting in the planning, implementation, monitoring, and delivery of programme results. The role involves ensuring timely and effective execution of tasks in accordance with UNICEF's rules and regulations. Specific duties may include managing programme documentation, supporting data collection and analysis for programme monitoring, coordinating logistics for programme activities and meetings, processing payments and financial transactions related to the programme, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders. The Programme Assistant also contributes to the preparation of programme reports and communications, and supports the overall functioning of the Programme Section to achieve its objectives in line with the UNICEF Country Programme and the UNSDCF.
Work Experience
At least three years of relevant work experience in programme support, administrative assistance, or a related field. Experience in an international organization or UN system is an asset.
