UNICEF
Batch Vacancy Announcement: 2 positions of Programme Associate (G-6) Havana, CUBA, Fixed Term Appointment
Organizational Context
UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to save children’s lives, defend their rights, and help them fulfill their potential. At UNICEF, we are committed, passionate, and proud of what we do for as long as we are needed. Promoting the rights of every child is not just a job – it is a calling.
Job Purpose
The fundamental mission of UNICEF is to promote the rights of every child, everywhere, in everything the organization does — in programs, in advocacy and in operations. The equity strategy, emphasizing the most disadvantaged and excluded children and families, translates this commitment to children’s rights into action. For UNICEF, equity means that all children have an opportunity to survive, develop and reach their full potential, without discrimination, bias or favoritism. To the degree that any child has an unequal chance in life — in its social, political, economic, civic and cultural dimensions — her or his rights are violated. There is growing evidence that investing in the health, education and protection of a society’s most disadvantaged citizens — addressing inequity — not only will give all children the opportunity to fulfill their potential but also will lead to sustained growth and stability of countries.
Responsibilities
These two positions of Programme Associates will provide cross-cutting support across planning, budgeting, and administrative processes essential for effective programme delivery. The role will support planning processes, enhance operational efficiency and ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures. By coordinating with programme and operations teams, the Programme Associate will contribute to the successful implementation of the UNICEF Cuba Country Office's new 2026–2030 Country Programme, designed within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF). Key responsibilities include assisting in the development and monitoring of programme work plans, supporting budget management and financial tracking, preparing and processing programme-related documentation, and facilitating communication and coordination among stakeholders. The role is crucial for ensuring that programme activities are executed efficiently and effectively, aligning with UNICEF's mandate and the specific needs of children in Cuba.
