UNICEF
Communication Assistant (GS-5) Havana, Cuba. Post. 137213, Temporary Appointment,
Organizational Context
UNICEF works in over 190 countries and territories to save children’s lives, defend their rights, and help them fulfill their potential. At UNICEF, we are committed, passionate, and proud of what we do for as long as we are needed. Promoting the rights of every child is not just a job – it is a calling.
Job Purpose
The fundamental mission of UNICEF is to promote the rights of every child, everywhere, in everything the organization does: in its programmes, its advocacy work and its operations. The equity strategy, by emphasizing the most disadvantaged and excluded children and families, translates this commitment to children's rights into concrete actions. For UNICEF, equity means that all children have the opportunity to survive, develop and reach their full potential, without discrimination, bias or favoritism. To the extent that any child has an unequal opportunity in life – in its social, political, economic, civic and cultural dimensions – their rights are violated. There is growing evidence that investing in the health, education and protection of the most disadvantaged citizens of a society – thereby addressing inequity – will not only give all children the opportunity to develop their potential, but will also foster sustained growth and stability of countries.

UNICEF Cuba is beginning a new CPD (2026-2030) in 2026, and as part of this stage, the update of its Digital Communication Strategy is included to support the organization's work in achieving its fundamental objectives of promoting and protecting the rights of girls, boys, and adolescents in the country, mobilizing participation and commitment to children and adolescents.
