Job Purpose
The consultancy aims to design and deliver a structured, practical training program focused on equipping young people, particularly young mothers, with essential skills in business development, financial management, social entrepreneurship, marketing, and access to finance. This initiative is crucial for empowering vulnerable youth to establish and grow their own enterprises. The program will involve developing a context-appropriate curriculum and materials, followed by participatory training sessions in four districts. The goal is to provide tangible tools and knowledge that enable beneficiaries to create viable business plans, manage finances effectively, and access necessary funding, thereby fostering economic independence and improving livelihoods within their communities. The consultancy will also involve mentorship and coaching support to ensure the sustainability of these entrepreneurial endeavors.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for developing a comprehensive, context-appropriate training curriculum and associated materials covering key areas such as business models, financial management, corporate governance, marketing strategies, and access to finance. This includes creating engaging and practical content tailored to the needs of young people, with a specific focus on young mothers and vulnerable groups. The consultant will also be tasked with delivering these training sessions, which are planned to be participatory and practical, across four districts. Each training session is expected to last approximately four days. Furthermore, the consultant will develop and distribute simple, user-friendly tools and templates designed to assist beneficiaries in business planning, financial management, and overall enterprise development. A critical component of the role will be providing post-training mentorship and coaching support to the start-ups and small/micro enterprises established by the participants, ensuring they have the guidance needed to navigate challenges and achieve sustainable growth. The consultant will also be expected to share knowledge and best practices throughout the assignment.
Work Experience
At least 5-7 years of professional experience in entrepreneurship development, business skills training, financial literacy, small enterprise development, and youth livelihoods programming, with a focus on vulnerable groups. Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering training programs, mentorship, and coaching of start-ups or SMEs, and developing practical training tools and curricula is required.
