Job Purpose
The internship program in the DRC office aims to provide structured professional immersion for young students or recent graduates (within the last two years), aged 20 to 30, to enhance their skills and employability. This role will support the Child Protection Officer in implementing and monitoring activities related to the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA). The intern will gain practical experience in program support, data collection, reporting, and community engagement within a humanitarian context, contributing to UNICEF's mandate to protect children and uphold their rights.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Child Protection Officer, the intern will provide technical and operational support. This includes assisting in the organization and facilitation of PSEA trainings for UNICEF staff, implementing partners, vendors, and community workers. The intern will contribute to reviewing program documents to ensure the integration of gender, GBV, and PSEA components. They will also support community awareness-raising on sexual exploitation and abuse and contribute to collecting quality data on activities, including capacity building of partners and monitoring their reporting platform. Furthermore, the intern will participate in collecting and consolidating data related to PSEA activities such as trainings, awareness sessions, evaluations, and referrals. They will assist in preparing monthly and quarterly PSEA narrative reports and monitoring tables. The intern will also support the functioning of community complaint mechanisms through capacity building and coaching. Participation in PSEA and inter-agency technical meetings as needed, and performing any other relevant tasks assigned by the supervisor related to PSEA, are also expected.
Work Experience
No prior work experience is strictly required, but experience in program support, data collection, or community engagement within a humanitarian or development context is an asset.
